2004 Vintage

After an unstable climatic summer which prevented the ripening of the grapes close to maturing, and allowing mildew to develop, we were lucky to have a beginning of September which brought a long period of heat and sunshine greatly improving the process of maturation. This summer weather also allowed the vines to remain in a satisfactory sanitary condition.

Thanks to the permanent attention of our wine-growers, as well as our low yields, we harvested beautiful grapes. Furthermore, to improve quality we set up a sorting table, unique in Lavaux, “a first”, allowing us if necessary, to get rid of the bad quality grapes.

Vinification went very well, as much as for the whites as for the reds. We can point out that the sanitary conditions, the balanced acidity and good physiological maturity were present. The "Chasselas" wines are marvellously aromatic, charming and sweet, coated with magnificent structure.

Regarding the reds, we can note the "grand finesse" of the "pinots noirs", as well as the impressive aromatic intensity of the "Gamay" enhanced with a harmonious tannic structure. They are ready for tasting and for being appreciated.

The casked wines still have a long way to go but for the time-being, all is going well, patience !

2003 Vintage

The 2003 harvest will remain in our memories as one of the best.

First of all, earliness record, complete harvest of the estate in September. Secondly, maturity record for each grape variety, sugar quantity rarely so high, principally the maturity of the grape skin and of the grapes which is exceptional in our latitude.
Another record, this time harder to measure : the quality of the harvest : we have rarely had the opportunity to bring in such a good harvest. This was due to the superb summer which did not allow any fungicide (rotting, mildew, oidium) to develop.

And the quality of the wine ? If the vintage turns out to be fairly demanding for the oenologists, the first tastings have been very enthusiastic. The whites are very rich, full, mellow and endowed with an impressive length. The reds are seductive with magnificent concentration, revealed by their dense and profound colours as well as the potential of the tannins which are worthy of the best vintages.

The vinification in barrels required more new casks than in previous years in order to obtain harmonious blends and if possible to avoid the style of a "dominant wine".

For the time being the promise is being maintained but we have to wait a little before for this sumptuous vintage can express its complete splendour.
